Please note that we have posted Caroline’s review below in good faith – as we think this only proper. But in the interest of fairness and by way of explanation, we would like the opportunity to respond as follows:-
It is melt’s company policy to refund or replace on any item that our customers are unhappy with – or that simply aren’t to their taste – as we want you to be happy, delighted and in love with them!
If, however, a product is faulty – then we will also always reimburse the full cost of the return postage to us.
It is standard retail practice for items to "be returned" if unsatisfactory in some way – and it would be highly unusual for a customer to be able to retain the products for use and also receive free replacements or a refund.
We are rather sad that we were unable to help further in this instance due to the reluctance to return the items to us….we would much rather have been given the opportunity to put this right.Please note melts response to this review above.
Received my box of unloved candles only to be disappointed with the scents. I have had these candles before and Melt perfect candles. As you open the box you are greeted with wonderful scents but sadly not this time! The candles I was sent were Blush, Nocturne and Christmas very little scent with any of them Christmas probably being the better of a bad bunch. Melt’s response was for me to return the candles at my expense and "if" they agreed with my opinion they would reimburse me – very little sympathy given, made to feel as if I was pulling a fast one!

Just received my box of unloved candles which are now very much loved by me. I was delighted to find Angel & Joy in my box as a friend of mine who also orders told me these are probably the nicest fragrances that you produce. I have started burning Angel and it is delightful it truly lives up to its name. I have bought loads of expensive "fragranced" candles in the past Jo Malone being one of them and I have to say that I think your fragrances are much more distinctive when you walk in the room.

What a treat. I have received my box of unloved. A bit of a gamble you may think as you do not know what you are getting and the fragrances but fear not with Melt. lovingly packaged as full priced candles with a beautiful hand written card detailing the contents. a tall & fat Nutmeg & Vetiver, tall & thin Eden and a short & fat Shine. Delightful contrasting fragrances. I have had An Eden candle before and love it but the other too just scrummy too. A real treat the cost of 2 manicures ( not that I have them very often just once in a blue moon) but this is far more of a treat and the whole house benefits. Thank you. Service and attention to detail fabulous as ever.
I’ve just received my first Unloved box, and it’s a bargain. The candles looked pretty good to me and the only ‘sadness’ is that the gorgeous Ginger and Bergamot candle (which my sister would have loved) is too hefty for her to take home to Dubai, so she’s getting the small, fat candle in Still, and I shall keep the mahoosive one. Excellent service and lovely candles; I have just recommended the Forest scent to ladies in my Pilates group, who were missing the scent of a fresh Christmas tree! My first ever Melt candle, this still scents the room very subtly (a year since I bought it) so it’s one of the few scents my husband tolerates.

I have just received my beautifully unloved candles. Such a fantastic price, and not a blemish in sight – the candles look perfect to me. I find it hard to choose just one scent, so to order the unloved collection is great for me as they get chosen for you. The anticipation of waiting to see what you will receive is exciting – I received Still, Saddle and More. All three of them smell gorgeous. Have loved Melt candles for years, and I will certainly be treating myself to more of the unloved in the future. Don;t hesitate in ordering a batch.

I have to say almost perfect condition and another good selection. Two of which I haven’t had before, I get so much use out of these as after they have burnt I chop the wax up and use in my tart warmer !my mum bought me some of these for a housewarming gift & they look & smell divine even though I haven’t used them yet

Hey Ho……………….I can’t use them up fast enoughThis is my first order from Melt. They arrived this morning in the most beautifully scented box. I was out so as instructed the people who had delivered it had left it in my blue recycling bin. I lifted the lid and was greeted by this beautiful fragrance. In my box I received Blush (short and fat), Neroli and rose (tall and fat) and Verbena and Clary Sage (tall and thin). They were each wrapped in tissue paper and exquisitely fragranced. They were packed very well for transit and didn’t have any blemishes whatsoever. The service from melt was excellent. The invoice inside the box was partly hand written which I found a lovely personal touch. I had also ordered a selection of trial candles which are exceptional in their own right. I was really impressed with my order and have since ordered the Christmas selection. Cant wait!!
this is the 3rd selection I’ve received.
Unfortunately there was 1 fragrance I wasn’t keen on (always a possibility when buying a random selection) but my daughter liked it, so her gain was my loss, as no money changed hands for it!……….. Ha Ha

Oh wow. I’ve only just discovered Melt and thought this would be a great intro. And so it is. My delivery arrived within a couple of days. I splashed out on two Unloveds, and each one comprised a Tall n Fat, a Short n Fat, and a Tall n Thin. So that’s £68.85 worth of candles for £42.50. Each one is wrapped in tissue paper with the fragrance name written on it. And there was a little card for each Unloved, listing the three candles that came in each. And, I don’t know if this was a lucky co-incidence or by design, each Unloved was different, so no duplicates. The fragrance has been filling the room since they arrived, and the closed box fragrance is stronger than a burning non-Melt candle I had on the go already. So, lots of thumbs up, and I think I might be placing another order very very soon.

This is the second box of "unloved" I have purchased. This time I asked for gift wrapping. As usual, the service from Melt was outstanding and my box of goodies arrived with no delay. I kept my first box for myself but the second box was a gift and the recipient was delighted with her gift. The gift wrapping was beautiful, I would recommend. The candles may be named "unloved" but I love them!!! I will definitely be buying more. Give them a try… You will not be disappointed!!

delighted with selection of still, neroli and nocturne. will definitely be purchasing this way again. minor flaws, very unnoticeable and would only have recycled boxes anyway. I prefer to wrap candles in clear wrapping cellophane and use ribbon etc to tie. would have no problem wrapping any of these as gifts. but am afraid am keeping them all to myselfTreated myself to a box of unloved after receiving a Christmas candle as a present which had an amazing smell.

Thanks very much for sending the candles so quickly. They all smell beautiful and I’m really pleased with the selection. I love the Saddle fragrance and I bought my mum a Burgundy candle recently, promising myself one too at some point. I haven’t seen the Still one before but it’s gorgeous.
I bought an Eden candle from Amazon and it took a month to arrive but , again, it’s lovely and was worth waiting for.
The candles will brighten up every room.

Will be buying more to give as gifts if I am able to part with them !I just love the unloved, there is no one fragrance that is my favourite as they are all so different and spectacular in their own way. A perfect way to try them is to purchase the unloved which is of course great value for money as well. Everyone should try them. You may then find you have more than one favourite, in fact I would put money on it that you do.
I love buying the "unloved" – just bought yet another box and cant wait for it to arrive – I am like a child on its birthday receiving a gift and not knowing exatly whats in it. This will be the 4th box I have bought and I have not yet been disappointed – the quality is excellent considering they have faults (proves the full priced ones have to be perfect!!) – and it gives me the opportunity to try different smells I possibly wouldnt normally buy. I loved the variety of candles, all different sizes, different smells with very little or no evidence of being a ‘second’ and great value. The little box with other bits of candle to sample was a nice touch to encourage people to try something they may not have chosen from looking at. I particularly like the long lasting complex scents of your ‘Melt’ candles, the rustic look and the long burn time.
loved this …I got to try numerous scents and to be honest the flaws are very minor..the only difference I could see on the "still" candle I received as part of this and the "still" candle bought for me as a gift was it was a slightly lighter shade of blue..which Im personally not fussed about – Thanks Melt great idea..

Always childishly delighted to receive these loved unloveds. Not disappointed. Two of the three I’ve never had before, and got a Reserche! Love all three and would order all of them. Must admit, I’ve searched for the flaws and unable to find any problem. Whatever their supposed faults they’re burning beautifully and smelling divine lit or unlit. Who needs room sprays and I know what I would rather use.
I love these supposedly unloved candles. I wasn’t disappointed again at the selection sent. Two of the three I haven’t tried before, but will be buying as a result, and the third I have previously purchased and again would happily purchase again. I’ve looked to see why they’re in the unloved category, I can’t find the flaws…. whatever they are, they are burning away beautifully and fragramcing the house lit or unlit. Who needs room sprays when you have Melt candles. I know which i prefer to use.
Gorgeous scents, and I was particularly pleased to find the Christmas candle amongst my selection! I’ve not lit any Unloved yet as I’m part-way through another candle (the beautiful phoenix) but this bundle is living in my bedroom until needed, and is scenting the air even unlit. Melt were very quick with my order which I was able to collet, and have a good look round their wonderful shop! I’ve just placed a second order which is due today.
What an absolute pleasure it is dealing with this company. Not only is the product lovely but also the uplifting communication. I LOVE the unloved boxes! I have had two now and both have been beautiful! There hasnt been a scent i havent liked from them, and as for being "unloved", some may have the odd dint but the smell certainly is not compromised! I need to hurry up and use my exisitng ones so i can justify a new box <3
I received three candles in the stated size mix…two of my absolute favourites in there , angel and saddle. Saddle is my all time candle favourite..if you haven’t tried it, give it a go…the third is burgundy which is a new one for me. It is more subtle than some of the scent range but it is warm and relaxing, more background than in your face. Fortunately the candles do not know that they are less than perfect so they don’t burn any differently or decide not to smell the same as their perfect brothers and sisters…so there you go..if you want to treat yourself instead of always buying for others…here’s a way to do it without breaking the bank.
I received a Melt candle for Christmas, and it is the most beautiful candle I have ever had. It is an Angel, the colour is so beautiful an icy blue but marbled with lacy white and when lit the top near the flame looks frosty. And the smell is heavenly, no wonder the angels gather!!!! Will definitely be having more of them.
For many years my daughter and I have bought Melt candles, and spent plenty of money. I would not buy any other candle until one exploded and went everywhere, walls carpet table. I called Melt and e emailed then. No response not even an apology. I was very disappointed with this being a well known reputable company. I still believe that Melt candles are the best, unfortunately their lack of customer service is very poor.
Before I start just to let you all know I love all the fragrance’s of Melts.
Over a year ago I had a problem with a candle, I informed the team at Melts, unfortunately for what ever reason they didn’t receive my email.
Nearly 18mths later I found the original email so I resent it, to my amazement someone from the team replied to me offering a replacement.
Now how many companies do you know that would do that? I have since moved to Spain but they sent my candle to me. I can not thank the team at Melts enough, I only wish they would deliver to Spain I for one would gladly pay the postage as many of my friends here would. I’m always being asked " what are you burning" sorry is my reply they won’t post to Spain. To finish of with this rather long email all I can say is a huge thank you to all at Melts for making my home smell delightful, and I would recommend Melts to anyone. THANK YOU.
Regards Mrs Janet Reid.Wasn’t quite sure what to expect really, as the website doesn’t make it clear what quantity of candles you’ll receive. Happily I was sent one tall and fat, one short and fat and one tall and thin. Definitely happy with that, as all three look great.
Thank you, I can now tell friends the names of the individual candles. I add that friends are most impressed by the fragrance of the candles.
Using a candle melt with the excess wax is a really good idea and goes with my old fashioned ways of ‘waste not want not’.

3 large candles, not sure of there names, and I will end up with alot of wax unmelted as the candles burn down the middle.
The smell so far is gorgeous.Bought as Christmas gift for my sister, and from past purchases she won’t be disappointed – they smell lovely…. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them – never been let down with delivery or quality…… love them.
This is my fifth or sixth purchase.
Once again it was barely noticeable that the candles were imperfect.
A great way to stock up for the long, dark nights, providing you’re not fussy about the fragrances you receive (because they’re all fabulous)
Only comment was that there was no indication of what the fragrances were (in the past this has been written on the invoice) As I’ve bought most of the candles previously I was able to work out what they were, but if you were new to Melt it might hinder you if you wanted to buy a particular Unloved fragrance again.
Perhaps this was just an oversight?Have been a customer for many years and have never been disappointed by Melt.Would not hesitate to recommend ,good service and prompt delivery every time. Quality of candles impeccable.
Absolutely love my candles. They are the best smelling candles I’ve ever come across and make a wonderful addition to my home.

These candles are just the best they smell amazing and always a lovely surprise to see what candles you get. Never disappointed. I have to say for candles that are supposed to be unloved you can hardly notice any imperfections. Love love love the unloved x
I have been buying these for years and once again they are quite simply ….FABULOUS !! I burn candles everyday and this is an excellent way of my justifying burning my absolute favourite candles at a brilliant price. Please please never stop doing these.
Had these many times before – excellent value and quite simply ….FABULOUS. I burn candles every day and as MELT are my absolute favourites for scents and burning – this makes it a reasonable way to be able to use on a day to day basis . Please do not stop doing these.
