Summer garden party

We don’t know about you, but for us, summer has flown by in a flash! And as the weather starts to turn, the nights creep in a little sooner, and we see the dreaded autumnal drizzle roll in more often than we’d like for August. It can be easy to write summer off, especially with the temperatures slipping from warm to temperate, but don’t count your chickens just yet—summer isn’t over!

If you think you missed the summer garden party boat – you haven’t, here’s how you can throw a beautiful late summer garden party that captures the unique blend of late summer warmth and early autumn magic.

Set the scene with seasonal decor

The first step in creating a memorable garden party for your guests is choosing the perfect location. Whether it’s on your patio, under a pergola or gazebo, or in an open space (weather permitting), the right spot sets the scene.

To create a truly stunning setup that captures the feeling of the transition between summer and autumn, start with your natural elements, like a mix of late-summer flowers. Sunflowers and roses make a stunning combo, but you can add whatever you like. When you’ve finished picking out your flowers, add some early autumn foliage, like vines and leaves. Pumpkins, gourds, and pine cones all also make perfect additions to a table centrepiece, or you could just scatter them around the garden for a festive touch!

No garden party is complete without lighting, and there’s nothing that crosses the realms of both summer and autumn like fairy lights! Hang them in trees, along fences, or even drape them on your table to create a soft, inviting glow. For a little extra something, lanterns or mason jars with tea lights placed on tables or along your pathways will also enhance the ambience and add a magical touch.

Add in the perfect late summer scents

Obviously no garden party is complete without a luxury scented candle or two! For a bright, summery daytime scent, it simply has to be Eden. This candle truly lives up to its reputation. Eden is a versatile choice that seamlessly fits any season. Her blend of Herbs, Spices, Precious Woods, and Fig creates a scent that is so universally appealing, charming, and incredibly well-mannered that everyone loves it! So it goes without saying that it is the perfect addition to any garden party!

For something more autumnal, we recommend our Forest Scented Candle and the Nutmeg & Vetiver Scented Candle as perfect choices for that whimsical late summer feel. The Forest Scented Candle offers a rich, deep, and smoky fragrance with notes of Sandalwood, Pine, Oakmoss, Vanilla, and a surprising hint of Strawberry! Dare we say it’s a perfect combination for summer and autumn? Its resinous warmth will enhance the natural surroundings of your garden and create a cosy, inviting atmosphere as the evening cools!

If you’re looking for something warmer for when the sun starts to set, Nutmeg & Vetiver brings a warm, spicy fragrance reminiscent of logs piled by a fireplace. With a blend of Nutmeg, Vetiver, Orange, Jasmine, and a host of other woody and spicy notes, this candle is comforting and warm; it’s the ultimate fire pit candle and will perfectly complement your garden party’s atmosphere.

Create a cosy seating area

Finally, you want to make sure your guests are comfy with a cosy seating area. Arrange your outdoor furniture in clusters to encourage conversation, and add plenty of plush cushions and warm, cosy blankets!
A great touch would be to set up a fire pit at the centre of your seating area for warmth and ambience and keep extra logs nearby so guests can feed the fire. If space is limited or you don’t have a fire pit, portable patio heaters are a great alternative to keep the area warm without taking up much room!

We have an entire range of summery and autumnal scents ready and waiting on our site, so why not take a look?
