Vanilla(Vanilla Planifolia)

Type of Plant: Orchid
Plant part used: Fruit pods
Countries of origin: Mexico, Indonesia, Madagascar

The Vanilla Orchid flowers for only a day and must be pollinated manually during the
morning if fruit is desired. They mature after about five months at which point they
are harvested and cured. Curing ferments and dries the pods while minimizing the
loss of essential oils. Vanilla extract is obtained from this portion of the plant.

Why We Love It as a Fragrance:

The popularity of vanilla is many times accredited to its comforting, soft & powdery
fragrance that for many evoke thoughts of childhood memories – ice-cream
holidays and sweet treats – times that were simple & uncomplicated!
There is something so pure about it that makes it one of the best scents to choose if
you want to display sensuality, comfort, warmth, and indulgence.

Aromatherapeutic Uses:

Antioxidant, aphrodisiac, febrifuge, antidepressant, sedative, relaxant.
