Today we’re taking a look at another of our favourite scents, clary sage. It’s a scent we like to refer to as our secret gem as it’s not the most well known of essential oils.

Clary sage: Four marvellous benefits
Woody, herby, nutty, spicy and earthy; the clary sage scent can be difficult to describe as it varies from person to person, but it’s health and wellbeing properties have been known to be effective for many.
1) It’s perfect for the emotional sort, easing depression, soothing nervous tension and busting stress. It can boost self-esteem, confidence, hope and mental strength, which are often the root causes behind these emotional issues.
2) Clary sage also enhances creativity and intuition. Again, this probably comes from the increased confidence and self-esteem one gets from this fragrance. With fewer boundaries, one is much more likely to express themselves and trust their innermost thoughts.
3) When used as an essential oil, clary sage is fantastic for back and neck pain – we’d highly recommend it to all you office workers.
It works by relaxing the tight knots of the muscle rather than merely numbing them – which also means it helps to relieve all those painful side effects of PMT too.
4) With depression and low self-esteem often comes a lack of libido. Luckily, clary sage is well known for its aphrodisiac properties and will be able to boost your libido in no time!
Where to find it
Clary sage is one of the most expensive oils you can get your hands on. It’s found in some of the premium perfumes and aftershaves from Miss Dior to Kouros and Paco Rabanne.

Get creative at home
If you want to have a go at making your own clary sage combination with essential oils, blend it with oils of lemon, line and orange for a zesty and uplifting scent.
Alternatively, clary sage blends well with lavender, pine, geranium, sandalwood and jasmine, all known for their stress-busting and calming properties.
