Here at melt we have always been keen to support campaigns that are close to our hearts and we are delighted to be sponsoring local man, Bill Honeywell, on his campaign to raise funds for Cancer Research UK this year.

A double cancer survivor, Bill has already raised over £60,000 for The Christie and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation with previous campaigns which have included cycling around the coast of Britain (2011), from Lands End to John o’Groats (2003), from Rotterdam to Lemvig in Denmark (2005).

Having climbed all 214 Lakeland ‘Wainwrights’ in 55 days in 2009 his arduous challenge this year is simply called 542 in 2016 – to follow author Bill Birkett’s ‘Complete Lakeland Fells’ and climb 542 separate hills, fells and mountains in the Lake District during 2016.

He is asking all supporters to pledge 10p per summit… that’s just £54.20 in total.  It equates to just under £1.05 a week which for many of us is probably at the bottom of a bag… down a sofa… a takeaway coffee (well – the latter is more like 2/3 weeks of a pledge!).

We are following Bill’s progress on Facebook – and we have to say we are nothing short of impressed at his progress so far.  We would love you to join in with us and follow his progress through all weathers as we sit and watch, snuggled on a sofa, cuppa in hand!  And… if you did want to pledge your 10p per summit, ’tis easy – Simply click to join his 542 in 2016 Facebook page.

And if you do pledge… we would love you to share your ‘pledge pot’ piccies with us here.
