Basil

Basil

Basil is a culinary herb of the family Lamiaceae (mints). It is also called the “king of herbs” and the “royal herb”. It is a half-hardy annual plant, best known as a culinary herb prominently featured in Italian cusine amongst others. The type used in Italian food is typically called sweet basil (or Genovese basil), as opposed to Thai basil, lemon basil and holy basil which are used in Asia. The leaves are not the only part of basil used in culinary applications, the flower buds have a more subtle flavor and they are edible.

Basil

Why we love it in fragrance

Basil’s green and spicy basil is very popular and widely used in perfumes. Usually used as a top or middle note in perfumes, it awakens the mind and gives a sweet, green top note to the perfumes it is used in.

Aromatherapeutic use

Nausea, motion sickness, indigestion, constipation, respiratory problems, and diabetes.
