If you’ve ever paid a visit to our Little Shop on the Farm here at Melt, you’ll know that we’re big fans of the shabby chic style – and of course, passionate about protecting the natural world around us. (When you live in a place as effortlessly beautiful as the Ribble Valley, it’s hard not to be!) All that means we love to find new and innovative ways to upcycle all sorts of things – including the jars for our very own luxury scented candles! So if you’re looking for a bit of inspiration, here are our four top ideas…

1. A desk caddy

You know what they say… a tidy desk is a tidy mind. If you’re a creative sort of person though, like so many other creative people you may well find that your desk tends to have a habit of getting cluttered anyway. That’s how it often goes! There are all sorts of little tidying gadgets you can buy, but personally we’re very partial to upcycling old candle jars as desk caddies or pencil holders. (It doesn’t have to be just pencils of course – it could also be for stuff like biros, highlighters rulers, scissors… you name it!)

2. Planters and plant pots

We don’t know about you, but as we touched on above, we’re particularly passionate about nature here at Melt. In fact, it’s even inspired several of our most popular candles, such as Forest and Eden. That makes candle jars especially well suited to serve as receptacles for your most treasured plants and flowers, helping to add even more character and charm to your interiors, and enhancing the overall atmosphere of your space.

3. Bathroom storage

Depending on the look and feel you’ve established for your bathroom, you may find that an upcycled candle jar can serve several useful roles there, too. For example you might choose to use it to hold toothbrushes and toothpaste, cotton wool, cotton buds, or razors – just to name a few examples. (Obviously though, make sure to store any toothbrushes top side up, to ensure they stay clean and hygienic!)

4. Make up brushes

If you’ve tried your living room and you’ve tried your bathroom and you’re not fully convinced about either, it might be time to see how an luxury jar candle looks on your vanity instead. They make excellent receptacles for makeup brushes – and as beautiful things themselves, there’s a certain poetry in their ability to help you feel beautiful too! Just as with toothbrushes though, make sure to store your make-up brushes top-side up. It’s safer and cleaner that way!

These are just a few of our top ideas, but you may well have one or two of your own! We’ll leave the specifics up to you – as for us, we’ll concentrate on creating gorgeous scents for you to enjoy, before you try out your most creative ideas with the luxury jar candles! You can take a peek at our range of luxury scented candles online – including longtime customer favourites like Angel and Blush – or come down to our Shop On The Farm to smell the gorgeous scents in person. We look forward to seeing you!
