We’re coming over all spooky on the Melt blog today, just in time for Halloween, one of our favourite festivities of the year! Perhaps, our love of Halloween is in our Lancashire blood – the Pendle Witches of course lived on our doorstep here in Pendle. So to celebrate all things majestic and haunting, we’ll be discovering just a few things you can get up to this Halloween…

A frightful Halloween fest

For our most daring readers, we recommend taking a trip back in time as you explore Pendle Hill and beyond on the Walking With Wiches Ghost Hunt Vigil and Supper, on Saturday 25th October. With the tour lasting until 3am the following morning, who knows what you’ll find during your exploration of the village? Your journey will include a trip to the majestic Clitheroe Castle, and of course Pendle Hill where you’ll enjoy stories from times gone by and a Vigil upon the hill itself. From the sounds of it, this bone-chilling event is definitely not for the light hearted! We recommend coming home to a warm bath and fresh, friendly vanilla scents like Blush to calm yourself after the spooky ordeal!

Celebrate the ghouls and ghosts with a party

For those of you looking for something a little more light hearted, why not attend The Halloween Family Party at The Blackpool Tower Ballroom. With this event, we can guarantee that you and your little ones won’t get too spooked. Instead, you’ll just be wowed by the amazing magic, illusions, and Halloween UV light show set to enchant you all night long. The party takes place on 31st October – so it’s a great excuse to get out of the house of the night of Halloween itself!

Make your own fun with a Jack-o’-lantern

Designing our Jack-o’-lanterns is one of our favourite parts of Halloween so we thank the Irish for coming up with one of our favourite traditions! The name, Jack-o’-lantern comes from an Irish folktale about a man named Stingy Jack. In Ireland and Scotland, people began to make their own versions of Jack’s lanterns by carving scary faces into turnips or potatoes and placing them into windows or near doors to frighten away Stingy Jack and other wandering evil spirits. Of course, we now use pumpkins to do exactly the same thing.

Coming up with quirky and ghastly designs is one of our favourite elements of pumpkin carving – in the past we’ve carved out celebrity faces, our favourite animals as well as those menacing toothy grins you normally associate with the classic pumpkin. If any of you are inspired to get a little more crafty with us this year, take a look at these fabulous 25 pumpkin designs, all of which come with helpful stencils.

Why not join us this Halloween and carve your own Jack-o’-lantern? Sit back, get creative and pop one of our enchanting night time fragrances on in the background – the seasonal Autumn, majestic Nocturne, and enchanting Noir, are just a few of our favourites for the season!
