There are many oils that have been proven to help with the blues, many of which feature in our scented candle range. Here are just a few:
Rose – This lovely scent stimulates the nervous system and helps to create a sense of wellbeing. It helps to uplift one’s spirit and get rid of all those anxieties that may be building up and causing depression.
Ylang Ylang – A great choice for relaxation, Ylang Ylang can help treat anxiety, insomnia and depression. It restores confidence and helps one to feel good about themself, fighting any mental battles they may be suffering from.
Sandalwood – Tension, stress and fatigue all exacerbate depression, making one feel worse. Sandalwood helps tackle these three symptoms with its sedative properties.
Lavender – The healer of all things, Lavender, can also be used to treat depression. With its relaxation properties it also can alleviate a number of symptoms that worsen the condition such as insomnia, stress and headaches.

How to use essential oils to remedy depression
There are number of ways you can use your essential oils to beat the blues – here are our personal favourites…
- Scented candles. Choose one of the candles recommended above and use frequently in your home. Try to sit back, relax and inhale the fragrance to let it work its magic.
- Massage. Add 10 drops of one of the oils above to a 60ml bottle of carrier oil for a relaxing and stress-busting massage.
- Relaxing bath. Choose one of the oils above to add to a warm bath, using just 5 -10 drops depending on how deep you fill your bath. Sit back and relax in the oily waters for at least 20 minutes.
