The journey of picking the perfect candle can take time, like choosing a signature perfume. Finding a luxury scented candle you love isn’t just another task to be checked off a list – it’s an experience. Each scent allows you to create a bespoke atmosphere in your home, and it’s oh-so-easy to fall in love with the feelings it evokes.

The concept of the seasons is tightly intertwined with that of scents – certain scents lend themselves better to winter, whereas others might radiate summer vibes. So why not match your choice to the season for a greater sense of harmony and atmosphere in your interiors? Here at Melt, we’re passionate about crafting hand-made and high quality luxury candles. So if you need a helping hand in choosing your seasonal scent, you’re in exactly the right place.

Scents for spring

Spring is synonymous with new life: longer days, bees buzzing and flowers blooming. Here in the Ribble Valley, everything is always in full bloom during the springtime, from baby lambs bouncing in the fields to ducklings drifting down the rivers. It’s one of our absolute favourite times of year. It’s also the time to throw open the windows after a long winter and get some spring cleaning underway. So, it’s unsurprising that so many of us naturally gravitate toward the lighter, more floral scents that create the fresh atmosphere that’s so often associated with this time of year.

If you’re looking for a new springtime scent to usher in the sunshine, personally we’d suggest our Angel, Blush and Eden candles for creating that uplifting atmosphere that helps melt away all those wintery blues. They’re perfect for snuggly places, bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms. (And of course, we’d always recommend popping down to our little Shop on the Farm to fully explore our fragrances in person!)

Scents for summer

From sunbeams to the salty sea air, there are few things better than the hazy ambience of a warm summer’s day. Summer is often the most overlooked season when it comes to candles. They’re often associated with winter, comfort and the colder months. But don’t underestimate their ability to instantly refresh your interiors in the heat of summer!

You can enhance your summer experiences and memories with scents such as our Dance – packed with notes of lily, jasmine and gardenia. This stunning little lady is ideal for hot days and warm nights in the garden. Or, if you’d prefer something more citrusy and enthusiastic for say, a summer party, why not try Dance’s slightly sparklier sister – Joy. She’s perfect for people and parties, so if you fancy yourself a hostess with the mostest, give her a whirl at your next soiree.

Scents for autumn

Autumn is defined as the season of change and harvest. The sweet remnants of summer linger ever so slightly, but eventually succumb to the falling leaves, brisk walks and the taste of pumpkin spice lattes. As the nights grow darker and fires burn brighter, we all feel compelled to reach for the blankets and start cosying up. That’s why spicy, woody scents are best for autumn. The ambience that autumn brings is a match made in heaven for candles, they go hand in hand (and for that reason, it’s probably one of our favourite seasons along with spring!).

If you want to feel warm and fuzzy at the strike of a match, we suggest our Autumn scented candle. It encapsulates the feeling of cosy jumpers, conker fights and being nestled by the fire. Characterised by notes of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, this spicy little lady is sure to illuminate your dark evenings and bring a sense of peace to your home.

Scents for winter

And lastly we arrive at winter, the coldest and darkest season (but the best for lighting candles). As the nights get longer and the temperature plummets, it becomes time to retreat into the sanctuary of our homes with the cosy company of a scented candle. A season brimming with annual wonder deserves a scent to match.

If you’re looking for something warm, spicy and reminiscent of a crackling fire, we recommend our Nutmeg and Vetiver. A gentle spice with sprinklings of orange, jasmine and amber, this candle is perfect for anywhere that there’s fire: the mantle, a fire pit, roasting chestnuts – you name it. If you prefer a slightly more Christmassy, then Christmas is probably the one for you! Warm and welcoming, rich and spicy, the soft glow of this magical candle can add a little extra something to your festive movie marathon with.

Those are just a couple of our personal favourite recommendations though – you might well have plenty of your own! And if you’re on the lookout for some new favourites, feel free to explore our diverse range of luxury scented candles right here at Melt. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with our lovely team or pop down to our Shop on the Farm to experience it all in person. We always love to see you!
