Here at Melt, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite accessories you can get your hands on to help you create the perfect scented candle experience right at home.
Candle snuffer
A candle snuffer is a must-have accessory for any candle enthusiast. It’s a small tool that allows you to extinguish your candle flame without blowing it out, which can cause smoke and potentially damage the wick. Using a snuffer is not only safer, but it also helps to maintain the integrity of the candle’s scent, which is exactly what you’ll want to do with our delightfully luxurious scented candles. Wick trimmer
A wick trimmer is a tool that helps to keep your candle wick at the optimal length. A wick that’s too long can cause the candle to burn too quickly, create a large flame, and produce excess smoke. By trimming the wick to about ¼ inch, you can ensure a clean and even burn, which will also help your candle to last longer. Candle coaster
A candle coaster is a small dish or tray that you can place underneath your candle to catch any wax drips or spills that come off your candle as it burns. What’s more, it also helps to protect your surfaces from heat damage. A coaster can be especially useful for candles with wooden wicks, which tend to produce more soot and ash than cotton wicks. Don’t worry too much though, all of our delightfully fragrant candles utilise cotton wicks for this very reason, so you can relax in the knowledge that your candles won’t shoot out soot and ash.
Candle wick dipper
A candle wick dipper is a unique tool that allows you to extinguish your candle flame and also helps to centre the wick. To use this, dip the wick into the melted wax surrounding the wick, and this will coat and extinguish the flame. This method also helps to prevent the wick from drifting off-centre, which can cause uneven burning and tunnelling (we discuss pitfalls of tunnelling in the blog linked above!)
