Since the warm weather has returned once more, we thought we’d help you enjoy the Summer Solstice on Friday!

Marking the re-emergence of longer days and a more bountiful harvest, the solstice is something that would have been regularly celebrated at earlier times in human history.

But most of us are just happy that the cold weather has dispersed and we can walk outside without having to put on your thick coat and gloves. Now, thoughts of summer pleasantries begin to enter your mind – thoughts of delights like food cooked on the grill with fresh vegetables or a side salad.

Nature suddenly becomes much more enjoyable and accommodating – so you can go camping, hiking or get away to a cottage by a lake.

There’s nothing quite like a summer’s sunset, especially on the solstice…the sun’s trailing edge falls below the horizon to the west and we await the coming of twilight.

As the day begins to slip into the night, the colours swirl with the clouds, descending into the skyline. Whenever, we notice a summer sunset, it evokes dear and happy memories.

When the sun begins to set, you can see pale pastels with sun-drenched shades of oranges, pinks and yellows. As twilight arrives, they get darker, becoming deeper yellow, orange, pink, purple and blue. Finally, dusk treats us to some of the darkest colours of all – with deep reds, blues, purples, and orange shades. It’s truly a sight to behold.

There are many different ways to celebrate the summer solstice – but a common, traditional ritual is to light candles once the sun goes down.

So, we thought we’d recommend two of our favourite Melt scented candles, which we think are perfect for amplifying your enjoyment of a beautiful summer sunset.

Blush…

Blush-scented-candles

Our blush scented candle has a perfect combination of vanillas so it isn’t too sweet, yet keeping all those vanilla addicts happy.

There are also some beautiful woody notes at the base for an extremely comforting and warm smell. There is something incredibly innocent and soft about it, which is why it’s ideal to watch the sun set.

Dance…

The dance scented candle lives up to its name in both its scent and its deep orange colour. Packed with some really ‘hot house flower’ notes like Lily, Jasmine and Gardenia, it’s full, feminine and flowery. It’s a heady, delight to have around – stunningly beautiful, but it’s certainly not for the faint hearted.
