For lots of us, our homes are a place to curl up and relax, giving ourselves some time off from the pressures and stresses of the world outside. Sometimes, however, you might find yourself in the mood to just get stuff done, especially on the weekends. Happily, there are lots of ways you can make things easier for yourself, cutting down on potential distractions and capitalising on that can-do attitude. Some of those, as you may have already guessed, involve our wonderful scented candles, and they’re all equally easy to apply!

1. Raise your energy levels

You probably don’t need us to tell you that scents can have a huge impact on the way we feel – part of why our scented candles are so universally popular! Beautifully scented candles such as Joy or Dance are perfect for giving yourself a burst of energy, whether you need it for a quick spruce of the living room, or to plough through that paperwork you’ve been meaning to get done. Alternatively, you might find that our Love candle is just what you’re looking for! With so many varieties to choose from, there’s sure to be one to lift your spirits and your productivity levels.

2. Prepare like a champion

We’ve all heard the adage that breakfast’s the most important meal of the day, and there’s a lot of truth in it – especially if you want to be productive! A well-constructed breakfast gives us an energy boost at the time we need it most, allowing us to get straight into our work and avoid the downtime that can come while we wait for our energy to rise. As far as breakfast is concerned it’s best to avoid fatty foods, and instead, opt for healthy breakfasts such as muesli that also release energy throughout the hours after eating.

3. Say no to distractions

One potential disadvantage of working at home is that with familiarity comes the potential for distraction. Yes, we know it’s true! It’s so easy to take time off to watch a favourite TV show or to find yourself scrolling through social media for hours on end, but these can take up far more of your day than you’d anticipated.

Though it might be difficult to resist the temptation entirely, you can still take measures to obstruct yourself from distractions. Leave your phone in a different room, unplug the TV, or turn the Wifi off. They won’t be the ultimate solution to ceasing distractions, but they will give you the extra few seconds you might need for your willpower to take hold again, so you can focus on what you really wanted to get done.

4. Reward your own hard work

This is perhaps the most important one, and sadly the one that’s most easily overlooked! Most people find that they are more productive in a home environment when they have a plan, and they stick to it. It’s important that you should give yourself a carrot occasionally (metaphorically), not just the stick. That means rewarding yourself when you hit targets, and keeping to schedules. This can be as simple as allowing yourself a piece of cake or glass of wine at the end of a day – our personal favourites! – or you could organise a weekend break for you and a loved one as a treat to yourself.

Rewarding yourself, avoiding distractions, and raising your energy levels with a healthy morning meal can all aid your productivity and fight procrastination. We like to think that our wonderful scented candles are rewards enough in themselves here at Melt – and happily, most of you seem to agree! You can browse your favourite luxury scented candles amongst our range right here online, or take a trip down to our little shop on the farm to see them in person. We’re always happy to see you!
